Pre Singapore Accredited Estate Agencies (SAEA) – Common Examination for House Agents (CEHA) Course

The objective of this SAEA Pre-CEHA course is to train estate agents to undertake agency work in Singapore. In particular, it is designed to prepare practising agents to take the CEHA examination. A pass in the CEHA is now a pre-requisite for those wishing to apply for a House Agent’s Licence under the Appraisers & House Agents Act. Under the SAEA’s requirement, all agents under the accredited agency must possess a pass in CEHA and be accredited by 1 January 2009.

Course Contents and Duration

This SAEA pre-CEHA course is divided into three cores namely: (1) Law of Real Property; (2) Real Estate Marketing; and (3) Professional Practice and Management. Law of Real Property consists of 15 lectures and Real Estate Marketing has 5 lectures while Professional Practice and Management consists of 5 lectures.

Participants are required to sign up for the course and the 3 core course exam papers. Participants must pass at least one of the core paper course examination before they can apply for the CEHA while the two other core course exam papers are optional. Participants who have attempted and passed the 3 core papers will be awarded a successful completion course certificate.

This comprehensive course is structured specifically for today’s professionals who are keen in achieving a higher standard in pursuing an agency career in the real estate industry by passing the CEHA examination.

The course materials are drawn from years of industry experience thus providing value in terms of contents. Major areas of studies include the property and property taxation law to keep participants abreast of the current legislations. Participants will also be taught principles of marketing and selling and the rules of marketing the HDB and residential properties as well as supply and demand factors affecting the property industry. The Code of Conduct that estate agencies and agents have to adhere to will also be covered in this course.

Admission Criteria

• An applicant must not be less than 21 years of age at the time of registration

• ** Practising agents who are associated with agencies accredited by the Singapore Accredited Estate Agencies (SAEA) Scheme. (Participants are required to maintain an SAEA- CEHA log book detailing their work activities from the date they joined the firm. The log book can be obtained at http://www.saea.org.sg )

** Participants who have successfully completed the SAEA Pre-CEHA course and passed one of the pre CEHA course exam paper have up to 31 December 2008 to apply for January 2009 CEHA.

** Successful SAEA Pre-CEHA course participants must submit their log book endorsed by SAEA Board when registering for CEHA examination.

Attendance and Examination

As this course is designed for maximum interaction between the participants and the lecturers, the participants are required to attend all the lectures and pass at least one of the core papers to apply for CEHA. As mentioned earlier, the two other core papers are optional. There will be no make up lecture/exam for participants who miss part of the lecture/exam. Absence from the course exam will only be approved for serious illness or on compassionate grounds and not for personal holidays or business appointments.

Participants are encouraged to complete the course and pass all the 3 papers. A Certificate of Course Completion will be issued to all participants upon successfully passing the 3 core papers examination.

The course fee is $650 including the course material. The course fee must be paid in full at the time of registration. The course exam fee is $175.00 covering the 3 papers and one (1) FREE revision class for those who failed from their first examination attempt. Subsequent re-examination fee is $50 per paper. Similarly, the course exam fee must be paid at the time of registration.

Note : The SAEA Pre-CEHA course and exam fee also do not include the CEHA examination fee.

No refund will be made and no request for deferment will be granted.

SAEA reserves the right to amend the course structure and syllabus to reflect the current market and legislative changes, revise the course and exam fee without prior to notice, to cancel, postpone or change the venue of the course in the event of any unforeseen circumstances.
